Einführung von Münzen

With no quarters coined at the San Francisco Mint in 1949, more than 10 million were struck during 1950. Gems are common through MS 67, though many of these coins are deficient in certain aspects. Overuse of the dies was a chronic problem at San Francisco, and coins displaying furrowed fields and blurred details are in the majority. When repolished to remove such flaws, the dies sometimes produced prooflike pieces that are highly sought by collectors. These are more rare than for 1946-48, years in which many S-Mint coins were prooflike to varying degrees. The most desirable variety is the S over D reverse. 1950 was a year in which there seemed to be some confusion about where reverse dies were needed, as there's a correspoding D over S variety struck at Denver. Also found are a doubled-die reverse and a nice repunched S mintmark.Mehr lesen
