It's astonishing that with hundreds of thousands of Mint State survivors for this issue, examples grading higher than MS 66 are extremely rare. This can be attributed to the rough handling these high mintage coins received both before and after leaving the mint. There are several repunched mintmark varieties for the 1961-D quarter, and a few of these are desirable to collectors.
