The 2008 Silver Eagle is the 23rd issue in the bullion series. 2008 had the largest mintage of bullion Silver Eagles since 1987 with over 20 million produced. This was also the first year that the new reverse design was used. The difference is most noticeable with the addition of a tail on the "U" in "UNITED."
