Introducción de monedas
The first silver dollars coined by the New Orleans Mint were the product of a single pair of dies. Most 1846-O dollars are found well worn, with Mint State examples being scarce and largely restricted to the lowest grades. The South embraced silver dollars as a circulating medium, and this popularity survived right through the Morgan series. In fact, examples of this issue are more scarce than their mintage suggests. Typical of O-Mint coins, the 1846-O dollar frequently is found with weakly struck areas. Particularly problematic are the right hand stars, indicating that the dies were slightly out of parallel. The surfaces of Mint State coins vary from a lightly frosted texture to semi-prooflike.Leer más
