1908 was the first year of issue for the new Indian half eagle design. The coins featured sunken-relief as opposed to the raised relief on all other United States coinage issues. While not appreciated at the time, the coins are very popular with collectors today. With a mintage of only 82,000 pieces, the 1908-S Indian half eagle features the third lowest mintage of the entire series. Due to this, it sells for a premium in all grades. This date is also known for having strong, lustrous strikes and some are usually available in gem, but for a large premium.Leer más
