Introducción de monedas

Despite a modest mintage, the 1929-D dime vies with its Philadelphia Mint cousin for the title of most common Mint State dime of the decade. In fact, it probably edges out 1929(P) in MS grades, though it's far more scarce in worn condition. The Great Depression of 1929-33 was felt first in the Midwest, and economic activity had slowed there by the mid 1920s. This led to several issues of Denver Mint coins being idled in vaults until years had gone by. Rolls of 1929-D dimes were still surfacing at banks throughout the 1930s, and this issue was perhaps second only to 1916 and 1916-S for its availability in MS grades prior to the large mintages of 1935 and later. A very minor doubled-die obverse variety is known for 1929-D dimes, but this has attracted little interest. Also obscure but of far greater potential is the single reverse die having the Very Small D used for dimes only in 1916 and early 1917. This variety is little known in the coin hobby, and no market for it has developed, but collectors should make every effort to cherrypick examples whenever possible. The coin illustrated bears the normal mintmark style of 1917-34.Leer más
