The proof dimes of 1895 are perhaps second only in availability to those of 1894, both dates being common within the framework of Barber Dime proofs. The 1895 issue, however, always carries a premium, as Mint State currency pieces of this date had a very low mintage and are seldom encountered. Proof 1895 dimes were quite well made, with fully brilliant fields and moderately contrasting devices. Ultra Cameo examples are rare, as the depth of this frosting was far less than for proofs made just a couple years later. The fact that many proofs have been chemically "dipped" over the years to remove toning probably diminished whatever degree of contrast they formerly possessed.Leer más
