ONE DIME
Introducción de monedas
The 1860 O dime is every bit as rare as its small mintage suggests. Examples are seldom seen across all grades, and Mint State pieces are great rarities. The coin illustrated is as fine as this date comes, though it does reveal some weakness at the upper left portion of the wreath. This would prove to be a typical flaw for dimes of this type, except when exceptionally well struck. The mintmark is quite small, as was no doubt the case with the reverse dies shipped to New Orleans for 1861's dime coinage. The onset of the Civil War, however, aborted any such coinage, and dimes were not again issued by the New Orleans Mint until the final year of this type, 1891. That date features a much larger O mintmark.Leer más
