ONE DIME
Introducción de monedas
Coined at the height of the Treasury's silver coin restoration program, the 1876(P) dime had an enormous mintage for the time and is very common across most grades. Even gems are plentiful. There is, however, more to the story. The reverse master hub for this coin type was replaced during 1876, and Philadelphia Mint dimes are known from dies of both hub varieties. The old, Type 1 Reverse (illustrated), is easily distinguished by the fact that letter (ON)E nearly touches the wreath, and the tail of the left ribbon end is forked. On the new, Type 2 Reverse, letter E is clear of the wreath, and the left tail of the ribbon is pointed. This second major variety is found on only five of the 25 die marriages for 1876(P) dimes and is noticeably more scarce across all grades. A doubled-die reverse is known for one of the Type 1 reverse dies (F-104).Leer más
