Introducción de monedas
A large mintage has made the 1841 O dime fairly common in circulated grades, though the same cannot be said for Mint State pieces. There were then no collectors of such coins to preserve them, and only a handful of pieces have survived by mere chance. Both the Small O and Medium O mintmarks of 1840 were employed for this issue. The former is slightly more common, but the Large O carries no premium. Of far greater interest to variety collectors is the New Orleans Mint's use of two obsolete reverse dies having the Closed Bud wreath typical of 1837-40 No Drapery dimes. These were paired with the normal Hughes obverse to create very rare transitional mules. One features the Small O mintmark and is slightly the more available of the two, while the other displays the Large O mintmark from 1839-40.Leer más
