Jeff Garrett:The 1858-C Liberty Head quarter eagle is scarce but much more available than the 1854 to 1856 Charlotte Mint issues. The quality of striking improved greatly. Planchet roughness was still a problem, and imperfectly made coins of the date were still the norm. The date is also known with what appears to be rather severe planchet-adjustment marks on the central portions of the obverse. One of these sold for $17,250 in 2009.
