The Philadelphia Mint struck a total of 233,461 gold half eagles in 1883. Most of those were business strikes, with only 61 struck in proof finish. Today, the mint state examples of this date are quite common in grades of MS62 and below. However, they become surprisingly scarce in better condition. The proofs on the other hand, are extremely rare in all grades as it is estimated that perhaps half have survived until present day.Leer más
