Though down a bit from 1962, proof set sales were still high and in excess of the actual number of coin collectors. This would lead to depressed prices in the years after 1964 that would not rebound until the late 1990s. Gems are fairly plentiful of the proof 1963 nickel, and enough Cameo and Ultra Cameo examples have been certified to satisfy the demand from advanced collectors.
