The drop in proof set sales for 1958 revived speculation in modern sets 1936 to date. Sales rose in 1959, falling just short of the 1957 record number. Gems of this date are common, though nearly all are fully brilliant, as the Mint made no effort to preserve the frosted legends and devices that wore away quickly from the dies. Enough Cameo proofs have been certified to be collectable, but Ultra Cameo proofs are rare and command large premiums. A fairly nice doubled-die reverse variety is known for proof 1959 nickels, but this is rare enough that it has not caught on with general collectors.Leer más
