Introducción de monedas

Despite a lower mintage than its Denver Mint counterpart, the 1914 S nickel is more available through the lesser grades of Mint State. Only at the gem level does this issue stand out as rare. The quality of strike for this date is all over the board. Some are just shy of being fully struck, while others are quite mushy or were coined from severely worn dies. Oftentimes, these worn dies also reveal "chin whiskers," the bold die clash below the Indian's chin from the Latin motto. One repunched mintmark variety is known for 1914 S, though the initial impression is rather faint. At least one of the several 1914/3 dies was shipped to San Francisco. The S Mint overdate is not as bold as the better Philadelphia varieties, but it is sharper than the 1914/3 D.Leer más
