Introducción de monedas
The mintage of 1839 quarter dollars was similar to that of 1838, yet Mint State survivors are far more scarce. The first-year novelty had passed, and no one saved souvenirs of this issue. Gems are exceedingly rare. As with all of the "No Drapery" issues dated 1838-40, many 1839 are incompletely struck, and collectors are advised to shop around and find one having full details. 1839 quarters come with one of three reverse subtypes. The Open Claws variety is transitional with 1838 and is scarcer than the Closed Claws variety. Also known is the very rare Long Claws reverse. These resulted from hand punching of the claws into otherwise incomplete or not fully formed working dies. Collector interest is limited to specialists at this time.Leer más
