Introducción de monedas
Three die marriages resulted from the use of two obverse dies and three reverses. The mintage was substantial, reflecting the amount of silver entering the port of New Orleans from Latin America, but the mass destruction of newly minted coins took its toll on the number of survivors. Many were shipped overseas to be melted for their bullion value, which then exceeded their face value as reckoned in gold. 1850-O quarters typically are weak at their borders and reveal signs of rusted dies. The ratio of Mint State survivors to worn pieces is higher than for coins that enjoyed normal circulation, as those remaining in the USA sometimes remained idle.Leer más
