Introducción de monedas
The modest mintage of 22,850 1872-CC quarters is nevertheless a large figure in comparison to the previous two years' production. These were produced with a single die pair in which the obverse shield was marred by a deep scratch that translated into a raised, diagonal line on the coins. A second, cancelled obverse die has survived, but no examples of this issue are extant from that die, if it was used at all. The lone reverse die is the same one used for 1870-CC and 1871-CC. Rare in all grades, this issue is particularly so in grades XF, AU and MS. Mint State coins are extreme rarities, the finer of just two believed to exist being an absolutely amazing gem with a provenance back to the Eliasberg and Clapp Collections.Leer más
