Introducción de monedas
After a lapse in quarter dollar coinage during 1874, the Carson City Mint struck 140,000 pieces for 1875, a large production in comparison to earlier years. This may have been prompted by passage of the Specie Resumption Act, though the fractional notes these coins were intended to replace were not circulating in the West. It's likely that Carson's contribution was mostly shipped east for that purpose. Two die pairs have been identified, and both feature the Type 2 reverse on which letters TAT of STATES are clearly separated. Most 1875-CC quarters are well struck overall, but they may display isolated areas of weakness such as the top of Liberty's head. Examples are scarce across all grades, with Mint State survivors numbering perhaps three dozen.Leer más
