Production of quarter dollars at the San Francisco Mint nearly doubled from 1893, and this issue is scarce only in grades Very Fine and higher. Mint State survivors are more plentiful than one would expect, yet gems remain persistently rare. Reverse dies used this year feature either the far right position or the one centered equidistantly between letters R D of the value statement. David Lawrence identified four far right dies and just a single centered one. The far right mintmark was a holdover from early 1893, yet survivors outnumber the centered dies by about two to one for this date. These are the only "varieties" known for 1894-S.Leer más
