Proof sales slipped this year, due to a combination of economic depression and a drop-off in collector enthusiasm for current coin types. This trend would last for the remainder of the decade. Proofs of average quality are common (bear in mind that those receiving "details" grades are not including in the census). Gems are not especially rare, and the number of Cameo examples rose this year with improvements in the Mint's die preparation. Cameo coins exist in greater proportion to the overall population for this and the next few years through 1900. Ultra Cameo coins are scarce, but much less so than for 1893-95.Leer más
