Introducción de monedas

The 1900-S issue comprised the majority of quarter dollars shipped to The Philippines during the early years of the Philippine Insurrection against American forces following the Spanish-American War. These circulated for just a few years before being replaced in 1903 with a unique coinage for the islands. The retired coins were tucked away by Filipinos as a store of value and were later repatriated during the 1950s-60s. As a consequence, the 1900-S quarter is very common in XF, though nearly all of these survivors have been cleaned with varying degrees of harshness. Mint State examples are very scarce, with gems being nearly unknown. The majority of 1900-S quarters have the 1/2 hub pairing, but this issue is also known paired 2/3. As with the hub varieties from Philadelphia and New Orleans, collectors have shown little interest in collecting both combinations. There are no other varieties beyond a very minor repunched mintmark.Leer más
