Introducción de monedas

Denver's production of half dollars rose 75% over that of 1961, as a response to the growing shortage of coins in daily commerce. This set a new record for the Franklin series, and it was the highest mintage of halves since the war years. While most 1962-D half dollars are reasonably well struck, with a fair but not high percentage of certified FBL examples, gems remain rare in MS-66, with no pieces graded higher. Coin collectors of the 1960s were more focused on filling all the holes in their albums than they were in obtaining gems. Most Franklins were simply graded as BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) until decades later. Several minor but distinguishable doubled-die obverse varieties are known for 1962-D, but more highly sought is VP-001, a nicely repunched mintmark.Leer más
