The Denver Mint had not coined half dollars since 1939, and its 1941 production more than doubled that of two years previous. The 1941-D half is very common across all grades through MS-66, and enough MS-67 coins have been certified to meet the demand from advanced collectors. Though some coins display the effects of die erosion, there are plenty of well struck pieces with excellent luster. This issue is rich in varieties. Several very minor doubled-die obverse (DDO) varieties are likewise known, but all are quite minor.
