Introducción de monedas

This was a fairly high mintage issue for the period, and it's a common across all circulated grades. Mint State survivors, however, are rare. A large number of certified gems for 1867-S is, in all likelihood, the result of multiple submissions for the same specimen. The dies were run a long time, and worn peripheral elements, including the border denticles, are not unusual. In addition, the mintmark can be nearly worn away on some dies, and collectors are cautioned not to mistake such coins for the rarer 1867(P). To date, 10 obverse dies have been identified, along with six reverses, and these were combined to create a dozen die marriages. All 1867-S half dollars carry the Very Small S that debuted the previous year. One die shows slight repunching of this letter, and another reveals doubling of the motto IN GOD WE TRUST (VP-001, WB-102). Three collars have been identified, these having either 138, 139 or 140 reeds.Leer más
