Introducción de monedas
With silver coins still not circulating at par with federal paper money, the need for additional half dollars in the East was minimal. As a consequence, this issue had yet another modest mintage when compared to its San Francisco Mint cousin. Well worn pieces are not difficult to find, but the 1868(P) half dollar starts to become scarce in grades as low as Fine. Mint State survivors tend to be quite well made and attractive, but they are in very limited supply. Six die marriages are known, these incorporating five obverse and four reverse dies. Three reed counts are known: 145, 152 and 153, respectively. A minor repunched date variety (WB-102) reveals that the date was first punched slightly clockwise to the final impression, with duplicate numerals 18-8 visible.Leer más
