Introducción de monedas
The production of half dollars at the Philadelphia Mint rose substantially this year, yet it was still low in the overall context of this series. Examples of 1869(P) are scarce in the higher circulated grades. Mint State survivors are very scarce, with gems being truly rare. When found, however, they are usually well struck from dies showing little or no wear. Nine die marriages are known. These were the result of combining six each obverse and reverse dies. The collars employed had either 146 or 153 reeds, a distinction which is readily apparent when stacking examples of each. A minor repunched date variety is known for 1869(P) half dollars (WB-102), but this has attracted little interest outside of series specialists.Leer más
