Introducción de monedas

Speculative interest in the low-mintage circulating half dollar continued to add to sales of the proof edition. The proof-only trade dollar likewise boosted sales of silver proofs in general, though this bump would end after 1883. As was typical, the majority of proofs were struck during the first quarter of the year, some 675 pieces, followed by 210 in the second, 50 in the third and 140 in the fourth. Not all of these were sold, and 36 half dollars were melted after the end of the calendar year. This is another relatively common entry within the long series of proof Seated Liberty Half Dollars. Gems are sufficiently available to satisfy the demand from advanced collectors. The percentage of certified Cameo pieces is high enough to make them collectible, too, though Ultra Cameo coins are in very short supply. Two die marriages are known for this issue, these consisting of two obverse dies used with a single reverse.Leer más
