First struck in 1986, Gold Eagles are one of the world's most popular ways to buy gold. The coins are available in 1/10oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz, and 1oz sizes, with face values of $5, $10, $25, and $50, respectively. In 1999 gold prices were falling and the sales of proof $10 gold eagle increased for the first time since 1994. However, this increase was only by about 16.5%.
