1821 registered another large mintage of dimes. Eight obverse dies and an equal number of reverses were combined to produce 10 die marriages. Five of these feature the Large Date used for 1820, while the three remaining varieties are of the Small Date style and appear to have been coined last. There is no significant difference in overall rarity between these major varieties. As for the individual, numbered die marriages, JR-1, JR-4 and JR-6 through JR-9 are all common. JR-3, -5 and -10 are scarce, while JR-2 is rare. There are a fair number of Mint State survivors for the more common varieties, but gems of this date are rarely encountered.Leer más
