Carson City's production of trade dollars was a replay of 1874, though the 1875-CC edition has survived in greater numbers. Mint State examples are not rare in the lower range, but gems are extreme rarities. A small hoard of this entry was dispersed in the 1970s, but the few known gems were not from that source. The 1875-CC trade dollars may be segregated into two basic varieties: The Type 1 obverse was used exclusively, but it was paired with both the Type 1 and Type 2 reverses. The new reverse is quite rare for this date, and it's evident that a number of the older reverse dies remained on hand through most of this year's production. The new reverse is easily recognized by the absence of a bud within the eagle's claw.Leer más
