Introducción de monedas

As it did at the other mints, cent production rose dramatically at San Francisco in 1917. Due to the hoarding of S-Mint cents that collectors pursued for decades, moderately worn examples of this issue are quite common as compared to its Denver cousin. Mint State coins are not rare, except with full red color, which is seldom seen.  There are fewer sharply struck examples of this date than for 1915-S and 1916-S, as the mint struggled to make its production numbers. The coin illustrated is a truly exceptional specimen in that it is both sharply struck from fresh dies and blessed with much original red. It also displays the old style mintmark of 1909-16, while the vast majority of 1917-S cents have the new mintmark introduced this year and used almost universally through 1941.Leer más
