1944-D cents were quite well made, with the majority showing only moderate die erosion. Fully red gems are plentiful from this very large mintage, and collectors may simply avoid those having less than full details. This issue is rich in repunched mintmark varieties. The population of 1944-D cents has been diminished a bit over the years by so many having been altered to read 1914-D by trimming away part of the first 4. These alterations are easily spotted, as genuine 1914-D cents have a smaller mintmark and lack the initials V.D.B. seen on 1944-D cents. If that weren't enough evidence, the glaring gap between numerals 94 should give it away.Leer más
