During the period 1937-45 the dimes most likely to be found well struck, including Full Bands, are those of the Denver Mint. Gem, FB examples of the 1940-D dime are thus common, though the certified population drops off sharply above MS 67. Of course, any currency strike grading MS 68 or higher is a rarity. This issue is rich in doubled-die obverse and reverse varieties, but all of them are too minor to attract much interest.
