ONE DIME
Introduction des pièces de monnaie
The minting of dimes for general circulation resumed in a big way this year, with nearly four million produced. Proof set sales were strong in 1882, too, as speculators scrambled to get the proof-only trade dollars. As it turned out, 1,100 proof sets were more than the market could absorb, and an unknown number of unsold dimes were melted early in 1883. A single die pair is known for this date's proofs. These were well made overall, with a fairly high certified population of Cameo pieces and a much smaller, but still collectable number of Ultra Cameo pieces for the advanced specialist.En savoir plus
