The coin hobby in the USA entered a slump in the mid 1890s, and this was reflected by declining sales of proofs over the next several years. As a result, proofs of the 1895 nickel are somewhat more scarce than most earlier dates. Their quality, however, is typically higher than for the more common dates. Gems are slightly rare and highly prized. A number of these coins feature nice contrast between brilliant fields and frosted devices, but only a minority truly qualify as Cameo proofs.En savoir plus
