Introduction des pièces de monnaie
The 1899 New Orleans Mint half dollar is a fairly typical entry of the period. Most extant pieces are quite heavily worn, as coins of this type circulated into the early 1950s. Examples in the most widely sought grades of F through AU are actually more scarce than MS coins, but they are not rare. Gem MS pieces are very elusive, but coins grading MS-61 through -64 are generally available. A precious few prooflike (PL) are known and are highly prized. Most 1899-O halves are a bit weakly struck where the deepest cavities of the dies oppose one another, but the severity of weakness is less than for most O-Mint halves. The only varieties are slight differences in date and mintmark placement, as these features will still punched by hand into each working die.En savoir plus
