The 1902-O half dollar typically displays a poor strike, something all too common for New Orleans Mint coins. It appears that the planchets were not properly annealed (softened), and this resulted in incomplete filling of the dies. Only slightly scarce in circulated grades, the 1902-O half dollar is not truly rare in Mint State. If strike is disregarded, there are some very choice MS survivors.
