Two die pairs were shipped to Carson City for 1872 dime coinage, but just one pair was used. This issue is rare across all grades, but extraordinarily so grading XF or higher. Mint State pieces are all but unknown. Like all CC dimes 1871-74, this date features a single reverse die.
