Although the Philadelphia Mint struck far more $10 gold eagles in 1884 than they did quarter or double eagles, this issue is still relatively rare today. Only 76,860 business strike coins were issued, along with a mere 45 proofs. Mint state examples are available, but tend to be found in the AU58 to MS61 range.
