This issue offers another example in which a fairly generous mintage has nonetheless resulted in a Mint State rarity. In fact, any grade approaching the MS level is likewise scarce for 1857-O quarters. Most examples are weakly struck in places. Problem areas include the stars, Liberty's head and the eagles right (viewer's left) leg.
