The 1954-D half dollar set a new mintage record for this coin type that lasted until 1962. Not surprisingly, it is very common in both circulated and Mint State grades. Also typical is that it is much better struck as a rule than its Frisco and Philly cousins. Contact marks are particularly plentiful on most pieces, greatly limiting the number of coins certified above the grade of MS-65. Despite its very high mintage this entry has revealed remarkably few varieties. A single DDO and a single RPM, both extremely minor, are the only ones yet reported.続きを読む
