The 1898-O half dollar is notoriously poorly struck, even with respect to other O-Mint halves in this series. The supply of Mint State coins is limited, but some display various degrees of prooflike brilliance on either one or both sides. This issue is particularly difficult to find in the affordable collector grades of F through XF, and problem-free pieces are quite highly sought.
