The figure of 880 proofs for this date is already familiar to many collectors, as it is likewise the mintage of the proof-only silver dollar of 1895. This was a fairly generous sales number for the decade, and the number of silver proof sets sold declined over the next several years. The overall population of certified coins is a bit lower than for previous years of this coin type, though it is certainly not a rare date.
