硬幣介紹

The Denver Mint was the only one to produce more than a million of the new half dollars late in 1916. It did this despite the fact that the necessary dies were not received until November 27, 1916. 1916-D half dollars are generally well struck, better so overall than those of the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints. They make ideal type coins to illustrate this design as it debuted. Examples grading higher than MS-65 are elusive, but they are available to the more advanced collector. Unique among Walking Liberty Halves coined before the 1930s, the 1916-D is known with a repunched mintmark variety (RPM-001, VP-001). The final impression was punched northeast of the first. This variety appears to be quite scarce, though the fairly high value of 1916-D halves limits the appeal of varieties. All 1916-D halves display the tiny D mintmark with triangular center opening that appears to have not been used for subsequent issues.閱讀更多
