Introduction of Coins
Over 12 million Morgan dollars were struck in New Orleans in 1888. The majority of these were not very well struck and are often found abraded. However, this issue is still available through gem, but becomes much harder to find in MS66. This date is known for two popular VAM varieties, the "Scarface" die break across Liberty's face, and the "Hot Lips" double die obverse. Both are worth hefty premiums, so keep your eye out for them!Read More
