The 1903 New Orleans Mint Morgan dollar hard a mintage of some 4.45 million coins. However, many of these ended up melted or lost to history. Because of this, the 1903-O Morgan was once considered the absolute key to the entire series. Fortunately for those who wanted one, but less so for those who owned one, this date was found in abundance in the Treasury vaults in the 1960's.
