Introduction of Coins
The US Mint released several Breast Cancer Awareness coins in 2018, including this one, which (along with its proof version) was the first pink-hued gold coin released by the Mint. It is 85 percent gold, 14.8 percent copper, and the remainder zinc, according to the US Mint. A $35 surcharge from the sale of this coin was designated to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in New York. The obverse features two women, while the reverse features a Tiger Swallowtail butterfly. The mintage limit for the gold commemoratives was limited to a combined 50,000 coins for the uncirculated and proof versions.Read More
