Introduction of Coins
The years following the conclusion of World War II saw a migration westward by many Americans looking for better climates and less crowded surroundings. This translated into ever larger mintages at Denver, such as in 1953. That year set a new record for dime production at the Colorado Mint. Gems are plentiful of this issue. While examples having Full Torch details are certainly not common, they are more plentiful than for the other mints in 1953, as Denver consistently struck sharper coins during the decade. Several repunched mintmark varieties are noted for 1953-D dimes, the most desirable of which reveals a horizontal D underlying the second, correct punching.Read More
