Proof set sales dropped about 30% from those of 1957, reflecting unease among collectors and speculators over 1957's alarmingly high production. The concern was short-lived, and the 1958 figure would be the last one to fall shy of a million sets for many years to come. There is no shortage of gem proof 1958 dimes, and this issue is common through PF 69.
